生漆工藝有著千年的歷史，天然漆作為純天然的塗料，在乾燥成膜硬化後，漆膜的耐熱性、防腐蝕、防潮以及硬度都非常優異。藉由實際製作漆器了解生漆的應用與相關技法之操作，將漆藝透過食器做載體來表現時間的痕跡。因生漆獨特的物理性質，使其會隨著時間導致漆層中的水分逐漸減少，色澤則因此越來越鮮明。此性質讓使用者不僅僅只是使用者，而是共同完善作品的一員，藉由時間變化讓雙方都參與進製作過程之中。
「辰」是時間的推移，人類對生命的祝福，是日月星辰的寬廣與美好；「澤」是時間流逝所留下的痕跡，是水流的光澤，帶有希望與恩惠之意。辰澤二字帶有祝福與時間之意，如同漆藝在時代的變遷下仍不減其光彩，隨著時間的累積讓其色澤更加奪目。
漆藝耗時耗力，但其精髓在於小心髹塗、磨顯並細緻處理後的每一層漆膜所營造的效果。利用種子、保鮮膜或板豆腐等材料使底漆的漆膜具有不規則的紋路，在此基底之上堆疊不同顏色的色漆，透過打磨來顯現出隨機分布的圖案；或是在未乾的漆層上貼附金屬箔或蛋殼，並排列出各式造型、圖案。由以上的漆藝技法呈現每副漆器的不可複製性。
