Our work, “The Straving Crow,” is a tragic story that uses animals as a metaphor for ordinary people—those overwhelmed by the pressures of life or academic demands. They endure hardship by imagining a better future, yet in the end, they remain trapped in their original circumstances.
The story follows a pitiful crow surviving by scavenging through garbage on the streets. One day, it discovers a glowing, mysterious vending machine that seems to call out to it. As the crow interacts with the machine, it receives luxurious items and a special small cake. Starving, the crow eats the cake and begins to hallucinate, entering a dreamlike world where it is treated to abundant food and drinks—a sharp contrast to its harsh reality.
Believing it has finally found happiness, the crow gradually immerses itself in this illusion. However, just as it feels that everything is about to improve, the story returns to reality, revealing the crow lying cold and lifeless on the street.
