苑裡房裡區的聚落發展，過去與藺草產業密不可分。藺草不僅形塑了地方的產業結構，也影響了居民的生活方式與空間型態，而紅磚建築則承載著生產、居住與家族記憶，記錄著聚落的歷史與時間累積。然而，隨著產業沒落與人口外移，老街中逐漸出現閒置空間與破敗建築，使原本連續的生活紋理產生斷裂，地方的生活節奏與人際關係也逐漸鬆動。
本設計以「編織」為概念，將藺草的編織邏輯轉化為空間組織與動線系統，並透過紅磚建築的修復與再利用，重新串聯聚落中破碎的空間與生活片段。藉由在閒置空地與老屋之間植入新的生活機能與公共空間，使居民、產業與遊客之間產生新的交流關係，讓空間不只是被保存，而是重新被使用與參與。透過紅磚與藺草兩種在地材料與文化語彙的交織，重新編織苑裡房裡區中斷的生活時間，逐步建構一個以生活為核心、兼具文化傳承與永續發展的聚落模型，使地方產業、空間與人的關係得以再次連結與延續。
The development of Fangli in Yuanli was closely connected to the rush grass industry, which shaped local industry, lifestyle, and spatial patterns. Red brick buildings carried functions of production, living, and family memory, recording the history of the settlement. However, with industrial decline and population outmigration, vacant spaces and abandoned houses appeared, fragmenting the original settlement fabric. This project uses the concept of weaving, transforming rush grass logic into spatial organization and circulation, and through the restoration of red brick buildings and insertion of public spaces, reconnects fragmented spaces and community life, forming a sustainable settlement model centered on everyday life, culture, and social interaction.
