以「會客室」為概念，重新思考高雄與海之間的關係。西子灣作為船隻進出高雄港的重要門面，不僅承載港口城市的歷史記憶，也見證了不同時代人們與海互動方式的轉變。從早期的航運、防禦與產業活動，到日治時期的海水浴場與觀光休閒，再到現今以「看海」為主的停留行為，海逐漸成為城市情感與生活的重要場所
因此本計畫透過「還原地形、延續記憶、重新連結海岸」作為核心策略。首先拆解既有量體，回應西子灣原本山頭起伏的地形輪廓，使建築順應地形層層堆疊，形成階梯式的空間序列與多角度的觀海視線。同時以步道串聯各個量體，讓人們從蓮海路逐漸走向海岸，重新建立城市與海之間的視覺與空間連結。
在空間內容上，設置閱讀、音樂、展覽與休憩等功能，形成多層次的停留場域，回應人們看海時不同的情緒與行為，如思考、創作、療癒與交流。此外，建築材料嘗試利用海洋廢棄物，如漂流木、船繩與海廢玻璃等元素，將海洋記憶轉化為空間語彙，使建築本身成為敘述海岸歷史的媒介。
最終希望透過此設計，使西子灣不只是「看海的地方」，而是一個承載歷史、情感與城市記憶的海洋會客室
Reimagining the relationship between Kaohsiung and the sea through the concept of a “living room,” this project redefines Sizihwan as a key urban–ocean interface. As the gateway to Kaohsiung Port, it embodies the city’s historical memory while reflecting evolving interactions with the sea—from industry to leisure and contemplation.
The design focuses on restoring terrain, continuing memory, and reconnecting the coastline. By reshaping existing structures into terraced forms that follow the natural topography, it creates layered spaces and diverse sea views. Pathways connect these volumes, guiding movement from the city to the waterfront.
Spaces for reading, exhibitions, music, and rest support various emotional experiences, while marine waste materials are reused to express coastal memory. The project envisions Sizihwan as an ocean living room carrying history, emotion, and collective urban memory.
