Set in Kaohsiung’s Baoye North Retention Basin, a site defined by seasonal flood cycles, "Gleaning Veins" redefines the library as an architectural experiment in "dynamic aquatic restoration." Design Strategy
To navigate the fluctuating 4-meter water levels, we designed a transparent reading capsule suspended above the flood line. This "living green mesh," integrated with native climbing plants, harvests sunlight and airflow to create a self-shading envelope.
Social & Ecological Nexus
During monsoons, the structure acts as a lakeside lighthouse observing the tides; in dry seasons, its multi-layered ramps invite community life into the basin’s green belt. It is a vital nexus where urban flood memory meets the flow of knowledge, fostering a symbiotic coexistence between public infrastructure and natural forces.
