OdB(Ocean Decibel)
OdB (Ocean Decibel) is a brand identity project exploring the impact of ocean noise on migratory fish, translating imperceptible underwater sound into visual language. It uses data interference and pixel aesthetics to express ecological disruption caused by human activity.
The system includes a logotype, color scheme, and key visuals, extended into posters, a photobook, and a “Noise Scroll.” The pixelated logotype transforms sound waves into digital signals, while grayscale and metallic tones reflect the invisibility of ocean noise. Key visuals depict migratory fish fragmented by noise textures and waveforms.
Four noise sources—shipping, marine construction, offshore wind power, and sonar—are abstracted into visual codes.
The “Noise Scroll” uses dragon-scale binding to simulate migration and sound diffusion, integrating species, seasons, and depth. The photobook combines ecological content with tactile materials.
OdB makes ocean noise visible and tangible as an ecological issue.
