本巢箱設計融合創新技術與永續理念，為瀕危的山麻雀提供舒適、安全的棲息空間，選用國產柳杉作為主要材料，其具備良好耐腐性、抗蛀性及釘著力，搭配塗裝使其能夠承受長期暴露於自然環境的考驗，使用壽命結束後更能自然分解，減少對環境的負擔。
設計上採用CNC準確加工，減少耗損並維持製作品質，巢箱外型橫看似橡果，側看如同山麻雀，讓巢箱與自然環境和諧共融，圓潤的外型不僅美觀，更有助於水珠順暢滑落，提升耐候性。側開門設計方便非繁殖季維護與清潔，而底部排水孔則能有效避免積水，保持巢內乾燥，延長巢箱使用壽命。
巢箱不僅重視功能性，還注重公民參與及教育功能，讓民眾參與製作，並於頂蓋裝設攝影機以記錄山麻雀入住，並給予參與者回饋。我們設置了社會認養機制，讓企業與個人共同參與山麻雀復育，並透過每個巢箱的設置，增進大眾對生態保育的關注；無法親自參與製作的民眾，也可以透過小額捐款的方式支持項目，並獲得以CNC餘料所製作的周邊產品，進一步增強人們對環保行動的認同與參與。充分結合循環經濟與社會責任，從選材、製作、使用到回收，致力於建立生態復育與經濟互利模式。讓保育工作連結到日常生活，實現共生與共榮。
“A Home for the Mountain Sparrows”
This nest box design combines innovation and sustainability to provide a safe haven for the endangered mountain sparrow. Locally sourced Taiwan cypress was chosen for its durability, pest resistance, and ability to withstand long-term exposure to the elements. At the end of its lifespan, the nest box naturally decomposes, minimizing environmental impact.
Precision CNC machining reduces material waste and ensures consistent quality. The nest box’s shape resembles an acorn from the front and a mountain sparrow from the side, blending seamlessly with nature. Its smooth, rounded surface allows rainwater to slide off, enhancing weather resistance. A side door makes cleaning easy during the non-breeding season, while drainage holes at the base prevent water buildup, keeping the interior dry and extending its lifespan.
The project also emphasizes community involvement and education. Volunteers can help build the boxes, while a rooftop camera records the sparrows’ activities, offering participants a unique window into their lives. A social adoption program invites companies and individuals to support conservation efforts, increasing public awareness of ecological preservation. For those unable to participate directly, small donations are welcomed, with eco-friendly souvenirs made from CNC offcuts offered as tokens of appreciation.
This initiative integrates circular economy principles and social responsibility, creating a sustainable model that links conservation with everyday life, promoting coexistence and shared prosperity.
