該基地位於后里鐵道圳寮路旁，正處於鐵道與自然交界的獨特位置。鐵道，它同時也是一個動態的空間，代表著來往的流動、目的的抵達，更是一個隱喻的轉介空間。在這個場域中，少年感化院作為一個特殊的機構，它承載著人與罪之間反覆往返的過程，是一個聚合與發散的場所。這裡的空間不僅是罪犯與社會之間的最初交錯，它也是社會對於“罪”與“罪行”概念的再現與反思。
而我認為“罪”並非的負面詞意，它是人類本能與社會規範之間的交織結果。建築的設計語言通過兩個雙重發散的斜面來體現這一過程，並將平面作為尺度的基礎。這樣的設計不僅是一個空間形態的呈現，還表達了人類對社會規範與自我本能之間張力的感知。兩個斜面之間的互動，猶如視差的效應，產生漸變的聚合。這種聚合反映了不同角度與斜率所帶來的空間感知變化，從而促使空間結構在動態中逐步形成一種內部機能的分化與劃分。
最終，這樣的建築設計不僅是在形態上創造出一種趨近於整的視覺效果，也在功能與形式的交織中，塑造出一個既具有分化又能夠聚合的空間。這是一個表達人與社會、罪與改造之間微妙關係的場所，一個從發散到聚合，從混沌到秩序的過程。
The Interstitial Space Approaching Wholeness
The site is located beside Shunliao Road along the Houli Railway, at the unique intersection of the railway and nature. The railway is not only a passage but a dynamic space, symbolizing movement, arrival, and acting as a metaphorical intermediary space. Within this context, the Juvenile Reformatory serves as a special institution that carries the repetitive journey between individuals and their crimes. It is a place of both convergence and dispersion. This space marks the initial intersection between criminals and society, while also representing a reflection and reproduction of the societal concepts of "crime" and "offense."
I believe that "crime" is not merely a negative term; rather, it is the result of the intertwining of human instincts and societal norms. The architectural design expresses this process through two sloping planes that diverge, with the flat plane as the foundational scale. This design is not just a spatial form but also a representation of the tension between human instincts and societal expectations. The interaction between the two sloped planes resembles the effect of parallax, creating a gradual convergence. This convergence reflects how varying angles and slopes change spatial perception, leading to the gradual differentiation and partitioning of internal functions within the space.
Ultimately, the architectural design creates not only a visual effect that approaches wholeness but also a space where differentiation and convergence coexist within the interplay of form and function. It is a place that expresses the subtle relationship between the individual and society, crime and rehabilitation—a journey from dispersion to convergence, from chaos to order.
