這次的主題和基地位於高雄機廠，選擇這塊基地富有多年的歷史背景，文資保存再利用為國家保護歷史文物扮演關鍵角色 ，國家經濟成長與特定時期重大建設相互緊密連結 ，臺鐵高雄機廠見證從日治時期至今百年鐵道文化發展 ，歷史涵蓋鹽埕工場至鳳山機廠 ，珍貴的痕跡至今延續 。隨著高雄鐵路地下化 ，鳳山機廠已宣告走入歷史遷址潮州基地 ，鳳山機廠位於都市核心地帶 ，擁有31公頃閒置空間未完整規劃 ，期望透過文資場域保存再利用重整都市破碎紋理 ，串聯城市建設發展 。利用運用凱旋輕軌站與高雄重大建設進行商業串聯 。近年來高雄輕軌成圓 ，順利帶動城市節點觀光熱潮 ，吸引大量的觀光人潮湧入勝地 ，遊客快速往返城市 ，提升通勤品質與生活便利性。在這塊基地上我們重新規劃高雄機廠廠區內部閒置已久的廠房及戶外空間，將園區內部活化再利用，在對環境最小傷害和最少建築廢棄物去對環境友善，及降低建築開發密度讓在都市生活的民眾能夠有一絲喘息的機會。新舊建築的結合重新體現出當代的歷史痕跡，讓民眾走進廠區內部彷彿身歷其境一般。我們想這個廠區不僅是一個能夠讓民眾到此踏青，更富有教育意義，和將環保的意識帶入到每位進入園區的民眾之中。
The theme of this project is centered around the site of the Kaohsiung Railway Workshop, a location with a rich historical background. The adaptive reuse of cultural heritage plays a key role in preserving national historical monuments. The development of the nation's economy is closely linked with significant constructions from specific periods. The Taiwan Railway Kaohsiung Workshop has witnessed the development of railway culture over the past century, from the Japanese colonial era to the present day. The history of the workshop covers the Yanchen Factory to the Fengshan Workshop, with precious traces that continue to this day.
With the undergrounding of the Kaohsiung railway, the Fengshan Workshop has been relocated to the Chaozhou site, marking the end of an era. The Fengshan Workshop is located in the urban core area and occupies 31 hectares of idle space that has not been fully planned. The goal is to revitalize and repurpose the cultural heritage site, reorganizing the fragmented urban fabric and connecting it with urban development. This will also integrate with the Kaohsiung Light Rail Station and major city developments to create commercial linkages.
In recent years, the completion of the Kaohsiung Light Rail has successfully stimulated tourism, attracting large numbers of visitors to key destinations, enabling quick access to various city points, and improving commuting quality and daily convenience. On this site, we have reimagined the long-idle factory buildings and outdoor spaces within the Kaohsiung Railway Workshop, activating and repurposing them with minimal harm to the environment and generating the least architectural waste, aiming for environmental friendliness. The reduced development density offers a moment of respite for urban residents.
The integration of new and old buildings reflects contemporary historical traces, allowing visitors to experience the space in an immersive way. We envision this workshop not only as a place for the public to enjoy nature but also as an educational space that raises environmental awareness among all visitors to the park.
