This project explores Taiwanese colloquial sayings and the generational gap in language understanding. Many traditional phrases carry cultural meaning for older generations, yet often lead to mishearing and imaginative reinterpretation among younger audiences.
Starting from this idea, the project transforms language into visual forms through phonetic play and humor. A series of 16 illustrated characters is developed, forming a visual system that makes abstract expressions more engaging and accessible.
These characters are applied to simple product extensions and an interactive card set, allowing users to explore the relationship between images and sayings.
Under the concept of “SAYING,” the project embraces free interpretation and positive humor, reconnecting generations through shared imagination.
