Moths have long remained at the margins of public perception. Despite their ecological importance and remarkable diversity, they are still largely overlooked. This gap in awareness forms the starting point of this project.

In Taiwan, butterflies are widely recognized as symbols of natural beauty and are frequently featured in education, exhibitions, and visual design. In contrast, moths—though far more numerous within the same order—are rarely included in mainstream narratives. They are often perceived as vague nocturnal figures or even mistaken as pests.

This disparity reflects not only a lack of information, but also a deeper bias shaped by sensory and cultural preferences.

Through design and storytelling, this project seeks to reframe how moths are seen. By revealing their ecological roles and visual characteristics, moths are transformed from overlooked presences into subjects that can be observed, understood, and appreciated—inviting a renewed perspective on the relationship.
