Laozi once said, “Water benefits all things without contention.” Inspired by the Daoist philosophy of effortless action (wuwei) and harmony with nature, I aspire to create works that embody these principles. During a visit to Sanxia Old Street, I observed the declining state of traditional indigo dyeing and saw an opportunity to innovate. By integrating textile dyeing techniques with advancements in fabric hardening, I seek to redefine the boundaries of craft and design. The name “BOOZEN” is a tribute to Laozi’s philosophy of non-contention.
BOOZEN explores textiles as a creative medium, specializing in the handcrafted artistry of indigo and yellow dyeing. By utilizing natural pastes and fibers as structural elements, we transform fabric into functional objects that seamlessly blend into everyday life—demonstrating resilience through softness and beauty through non-contention.
Aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, BOOZEN bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, crafting durable and culturally significant lifestyle products.
