This time, I chose to compose music for the first and third video clips provided by the competition organizers.
In "Youth CF", the continuously flowing "lines" depict contraction, fusion, branching, and movement—qualities reminiscent of "water." I attempted to integrate the impression of water into both the arrangement and sound design, emphasizing dynamic rises and falls throughout the piece.
In "Sorry Means Nothing", the animation takes on a more experimental approach. Rather than focusing on a sorrowful narrative, it highlights the metaphor of "destruction." The music follows suit: the eerie melodies of the recorder seem to hint at the beginning of something hidden beneath innocence; two suonas, distorted by overdrive effects, create an intense, tearing expression; the fragmented textures of the synthesizer evoke a sense of slipping into the subconscious.
Although I am unaware of the original creative intent behind the films, I aimed to enhance the intuitive emotional impact of the narrative through sound.
