沉默村

No More Village

「尋訪新居地 探索故人居」
有些身分,曾經是日常,卻在不知不覺間淡出世界的記憶,被時代的浪潮悄然帶走。沉默村 是一座虛擬村莊,聚集那些曾經存在於臺灣社會,卻逐漸被遺忘的身影。
他們曾是國道收費員、鹽工、煤礦工,又或是因行政區合併而消失的身證字號開頭YLSR,曾經在臺灣的每個時代創造自己的光輝,現在他們的故事,仍然值得被聆聽。

在這片村落中,玩家透過與村民對話、參與互動遊戲, 像是以遊戲體驗即將失傳的蹦火仔捕魚方式、嘸蝦米輸入法的拼字規則、在行駛過程遞回數票等,重新看見那些被忽略的職業、文化與記憶,拼湊起逐漸消逝的故事。


或許我們無法改變過去的流逝,但只要有人記得,他們的痕跡便不會完全消失,這些故事將在我們心中延續,而沉默村著個虛擬的村莊會是保存存在過的身影。

"Seeking New Homes, Exploring the Dwellings of the Past"

Some identities were once an ordinary part of life, but over time, they quietly faded away. Swept along by social change and technological progress, they now exist only in memories. No More Village is a virtual space where these forgotten figures find a home—a place where players can uncover their stories and reflect on the value of preserving cultural and social diversity.

This village is inhabited by people whose roles once shaped Taiwan’s daily life: highway toll collectors replaced by electronic payment systems, salt workers whose industry declined, and even individuals whose national ID prefixes disappeared due to administrative mergers. They were once essential parts of society, yet history has left them behind. Their contributions may have been forgotten, but their stories deserve to be heard.

Through interactive conversations and mini-games, players engage with these lost professions and traditions. They can experience Taiwan’s disappearing bèng-hóo-á (fire fishing), type with the now-rare BoPoMoFo-based input method, or take on the role of a bus conductor, skillfully handing back change while a vehicle is in motion. These experiences allow players to piece together fragments of a fading world and rediscover what once was.

While we cannot prevent change, we can ensure that these stories are not erased. As long as we remember, their traces remain. No More Village stands as a digital monument to those who shaped Taiwan’s past, keeping their memories alive in a space where they will not be forgotten.
