Drawing inspiration from Du Fu’s Spring View, the poem portrays the devastation and desolation brought by war, depicting a nation in ruins and a homeland in despair. Amidst the turmoil, the poet witnesses endless destruction and human suffering, his heart filled with deep sorrow and helplessness. Unable to change the situation through action, he can only express his profound love and grief for his country and home through letters and poetry. Yet, despite the despair, he still holds onto a glimmer of hope, believing that the war will eventually end, that withered trees will bloom again, and that peace and prosperity will return to the nation.
