Mirror—⟪dominate⟫

在「階級壓迫」的雕塑設計中,初期設計為一隻手擠壓氣球,整體畫面是為表達出氣球受到壓迫,並即將爆裂時的不安定感、緊張感。因此我們將草圖的設計圍繞在:透過物件的擠壓以及運動感,最大化的呈現出遭受壓迫的感覺。
但我們最後考慮到氛圍及現實層面的代入,以及此負面意象對社會所帶來的傷害。階級壓迫的雕塑最後設計成:一隻手長出象徵貪婪的口舌與唇齒,纖細的手指輕戳著蘋果。蘋果表面則充滿過度發酵與發霉的痕跡,形狀上採用軟爛、腐敗的型態,代表時間在不斷壓迫之中的流逝。並在底部周圍有手指從水平面慢慢伸出,做出擠壓蘋果之勢,與此同時保留擠壓的「物理運動感」,而作品底座則會使用水晶土去仿製血漿的質感來表現在血泊之下的狀態。

Mirror—⟪dominate⟫

In the sculpture design of "Class Oppression," the initial concept revolved around a hand squeezing a balloon. The overall imagery was meant to express the instability and tension that arises when oppression builds to a breaking point, symbolized by the balloon being on the verge of bursting. The sketch was designed to maximize the visual representation of oppression by emphasizing the forceful squeezing and the dynamic movement of objects under pressure.
However, as the design process progressed, we had to take into account the broader atmosphere and reality, as well as the potential negative impact such a stark and volatile image might have on society. To refine the concept while maintaining its core message, we redesigned the sculpture to incorporate a more nuanced yet equally powerful metaphor. The final sculpture portrays a hand with a tongue and lips, representing greed, as its slender fingers delicately poke an apple. The apple’s surface exhibits signs of over-fermentation and mold, its once-firm shape now soft and decayed, illustrating the gradual breakdown that occurs under prolonged and unrelenting pressure.
Surrounding the apple, fingers emerge from the horizontal plane, appearing to reach toward it or subtly press against it, reinforcing the impression of a slow yet persistent squeezing force. This approach preserves the "physical sense of movement" while evoking a more insidious form of control and decay rather than immediate destruction.
The base of the sculpture further deepens the emotional impact of the piece. Crafted from crystal clay, it is designed to replicate the texture and appearance of plasma, creating the illusion of a pool of blood beneath the oppressive forces at play. This addition enhances the underlying message of the artwork, conveying a sense of consequence, suffering, and the hidden costs of systemic oppression. The final design not only retains the core theme but also provides a thought-provoking visual narrative that invites deeper contemplation.
