劇情講述一個小男孩在回家的路程中遭遇的詭異經歷。回家途中經過地下道時,因為帽子不見試圖回頭尋找,卻意外闖進了一間神秘的監控室,在裡面居住著會吃小孩的竹節蟲怪物,男孩也不幸遇難。動畫方面,在畫風上雖然偏向溫馨可愛,劇情卻是恐怖離奇的風格,我(配樂與音效負責人)試圖想找到中間的平衡點,於是在配樂上沒有採用舊驚悚片會出現的銅管與弦樂來作為張力塑造的主角,而是以更多實驗的合成器與打擊來營造氛圍,在前半段怪物還沒揭曉時都只有若隱若現的程度,最後怪物出現時才一次將氣氛推到最高。另外對我而言恐怖片最重要的不只有配樂,音效也佔了舉足輕重的地位,雖然不知道這是否會列為「音樂設計獎」的評分考量,不過還是有在音效上面下功夫。除了竹節蟲怪物本身要給人帶來的昆蟲噁心感外,在環境的轉換上,也鋪墊了不少低頻在冥冥之中給觀眾帶來不安感。
This animation tells the unsettling story of a young boy who, while searching for a lost hat in an underpass, accidentally enters a mysterious surveillance room inhabited by a stick insect monster.Despite the film’s warm and cute visual style, the narrative is chilling and surreal. As the Head of Music and Sound Design, my goal was to find a balance between these contrasting elements. Rather than relying on traditional horror tropes like heavy brass or strings, I utilized experimental synthesizers and percussion to build atmospheric tension.The score remains elusive during the initial suspense, only reaching its peak once the creature is revealed.Beyond the visceral, insectoid textures crafted for the monster, I meticulously layered low-frequency drones throughout environmental transitions to instill a persistent, subconscious sense of dread in the audience, ensuring the sonic landscape fully supports the film's macabre atmosphere.
