都市回聲

基地位於鹽埕區公園二路，是曾經的黃金地標-華后大飯店，它面朝的也是象徵過去高雄工業榮景的街區-五金街。
這裡曾是港口城市繁華的核心，承載著城市記憶，見證了鹽埕的榮景。
然而隨著都市發展轉移與產業結構改變，華后飯店在2019年結束營業，成為閒置空間，五金街也在2011年被政府收回並折除，成為現今的鹽埕綠廊，城市的喧囂似乎被時間掩蓋。
隨著產業轉型逐漸沒落，政府以都市更新之名推動拆除，橡皮擦似地把眼中認為的髒亂不堪抹去，但推土機式的更新，真的是最好的都市更新手段嗎？這裡承載的不只是老街區，更是地方記憶。
我們以「都市回聲」為概念，嘗試讓這片沉寂的土地再次發聲。
希望空間能成為一座橋，連結歷史與當代、居民與訪客；希望複合式的場域中，既能承載生活的日常，也能孕育新的文化與交流。
這不只是對一棟建築的再生，更是對鹽埕的一次回應。

URBAN ECHO

The site is located on Gongyuan 2nd Road in Yancheng District, where the former landmark Huahou Hotel once stood. Facing the historic Hardware Street, the area symbolized the industrial prosperity of Kaohsiung in its earlier days. It was once the vibrant heart of a port city, carrying the memory of the city and witnessing the flourishing era of Yancheng. However, as urban development gradually shifted and industrial structures changed, the bustle of the city has slowly faded with time.
With the concept of “Urban Echo,” this project attempts to let the once-silent site speak again. The space is envisioned as a bridge connecting history and the present, residents and visitors. Within this mixed-use environment, everyday life can unfold while new culture and exchanges are cultivated. This is not only the regeneration of a building, but also a response to the spirit of Yancheng.
