Sky lantern releasing is a traditional folk activity in Pingxi, Taiwan, symbolizing blessings and wishes for the future. This design transforms the form of a sky lantern into functional furniture, integrating a festival-based cultural symbol into everyday living and learning environments. The core concept, “Keeping Wishes in Everyday Life,” reinterprets the meaning of sky lanterns by preserving their symbolic blessings in daily use. By converting the lantern into a chair, users can continuously engage with its cultural essence. Additionally, the seat features a writable surface, allowing users to write wishes, draw, or leave messages, enhancing interaction and emotional connection while extending the tradition of writing blessings into an ongoing, participatory experience.
