In an era of pervasive digital services, “quick consent” has become a common response to lengthy terms of service. Beyond textual complexity and cognitive load, data risks are often delayed and invisible, making them difficult to perceive at the moment of authorization. Existing solutions focus on optimizing text, yet often fail to address the lack of risk feedback in real-use contexts, limiting users’ understanding of cause and effect.
In response, Tap,Done! adopts an experiential and interactive design approach. Using figurines as the primary visual symbol, it translates abstract data risks into recognizable scenarios within simulated environments, aiming to bridge the gap in risk perception. This approach is intended to enhance users’ awareness and decision-making, reduce habitual consent, and encourage more autonomous data authorization, while revealing the asymmetry between users and platforms.
