Nowadays, in a high-pressure and fast-paced society, young and middle-aged individuals are often caught in a cycle of overwork and emotional suppression. In recent years, governments have promoted mental health support programs, including free counseling services, indicating that psychological stress has become a widespread and significant issue. This project is inspired by these realities and aims to use games as a medium to help players recognize and experience these often-overlooked inner states.
Night Shift is a 2D side-scrolling action game that integrates psychological symbolism into its narrative. Players take on the role of an overworked soul who falls into a distorted world shaped by stress, addiction, and confusion. Within this environment, players confront manifestations of inner struggles while reflecting on modern life and mental health through combat and progression.
