《馳念》這個名字承載著深刻的寓意，其中「馳」代表著快速前進，象徵時間的飛逝，就如同阿里山小火車在山林間穿梭般迅速而不可追趕；「念」則代表著想念與懷念，表達了透過火車抵達某個地方，去思念某個人，或是回憶過去的時光。嘉義的發展從過去的山林樣貌變成今日的城市風貌，這樣的轉變就如同阿里山小火車的運行，帶著歲月的痕跡向前行進。但偶爾，火車也會停下來，讓人們駐足欣賞曾經走過的歲月與回憶。

創作這件作品的動機來自童年的回憶。小時候曾經搭乘過阿里山小火車，沿途的風景與火車獨特的造型深深烙印在心中，成為難以忘懷的畫面。因此，想要透過作品將這段回憶具象化，並結合歷史背景，呈現不同時期的火車車頭造型，讓人們能夠感受到阿里山鐵道文化的魅力。

這件作品包含三輛不同的火車，分別是中興號、載運木材的車廂以及載客車廂。作品主要以雷雕技術結合實木拼接，細緻地刻畫出每節車廂的結構與特色。底座同樣以木材打造，內部巧妙地嵌入燈條，使作品能夠發光，增添展示效果，讓整體呈現出獨特且溫暖的氛圍。透過這件作品，希望能讓人們感受到阿里山小火車的歷史價值，同時也喚起對過去美好時光的懷念。

Nostalgia

“Chi Nian” (Racing Memories) carries a profound meaning. The character “Chi” (馳) represents rapid movement, symbolizing the fleeting nature of time, much like the Alishan Forest Railway swiftly traversing through the mountains, unstoppable and ever-moving. The character “Nian” (念) conveys the emotions of longing and remembrance, signifying the journey of a train carrying people to places where they miss someone or reminiscing about the past. The transformation of Chiayi, from a forested landscape to its present form, mirrors the operation of the Alishan train—time passes quickly, yet there are moments when we pause to reflect on the past and cherish old memories.

The inspiration for this creation comes from childhood experiences. A train ride through Alishan left an unforgettable impression—the mesmerizing scenery and the unique shape of the train became a cherished memory. This work aims to capture that nostalgia and incorporate the historical background of different locomotive designs from various eras, allowing people to appreciate the cultural significance of the Alishan railway.

This piece consists of three distinct train models: the Zhongxing (Revival) locomotive, a freight carriage for transporting timber, and a passenger carriage. The work is primarily crafted using laser engraving combined with solid wood assembly, meticulously showcasing the details of each carriage. The base is also made of wood, with embedded light strips to illuminate the display, enhancing its visual appeal and creating a warm ambiance. Through this artwork, I hope to convey the historical value of the Alishan Forest Railway while evoking a sense of nostalgia for the past.
