西園鹽場是金門唯一保存的鹽場遺址。多數人知道金門是戰地，有高粱、風獅爺等特色，卻鮮少了解金門曾以鹽業發展帶動當地的繁榮。西園鹽場所生產的鹽曾是兩岸間重要的供應來源之一。過去，居民以鹽業賴以維生，是當地相當重要的產業。然而，隨著時代變遷，鹽場關閉，七百多年歷史的金門製鹽產業就此畫下句點，珍貴的歷史記憶也逐漸沒落。儘管金門已開始復育鹽田並成立文化館，觀光成效卻未達成預期。透過在地產業，可以了解歷史與過去的人文發展；鹽業正是了解金門在地歷史的重要文化載體。團隊以鹽為核心，依其功效延伸相關鹽產品，如「鹽香氛蠟燭」、「鹽皂禮盒」，設計融入金門本土元素，賦予在地鹽新的附加價值；另將歷史文化介紹導入品牌，展現出金門鹽業歷史的文化映像，使珍貴產業歷史在當代得以再現。

Reflection of Kinmen Salt

Xiyuan Salt Field is the only remaining salt field site in Kinmen. While many people are familiar with Kinmen as a battleground and recognize its unique features like sorghum, wind lion gods, and more, few realize that the island once prospered through the salt industry. The salt produced by Xiyuan Salt Field was a crucial source of supply between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. In the past, the local population heavily relied on salt production for their livelihoods, making it a vital industry for the region. However, as time passed, the salt field eventually closed, marking the end of Kinmen’s more than 700 years of salt-making history. Consequently, this important part of the island's history faded from memory.

In recent years, Kinmen has made efforts to revive salt production by restoring the salt fields and establishing a cultural center. However, tourism results have not met expectations. The salt industry, once the heart of local life, now serves as a powerful cultural tool for understanding Kinmen's historical and cultural development. By exploring the island's salt-related industries, visitors can learn about its past and the cultural evolution that helped shape the region.

Team has focused on preserving this rich heritage, placing salt at the core of their products. They’ve expanded into various salt-based items, such as "salt-scented candles" and "salt soap gift sets," while incorporating local Kinmen elements into their designs. This approach not only highlights the island's cultural identity but also adds new value to the local salt. By integrating historical and cultural elements into their brand, they aim to showcase the story of Kinmen's salt industry. This effort brings Kinmen's past culture back to life, offering a modern reflection of its precious history and allowing it to resonate in contemporary times.
