在推廣「移印染」這項染布工藝上,本團隊經過一連串的題目擬定、研究討論及親自拜訪「大地工作坊」品牌後,決定以該品牌的包裝改良為切入點,同時開發一款適合一般消費者的小型體驗盒,無論是新款包裝或體驗盒,改良上皆在使用現代設計的同時,試圖展現移印染的特色在內,以提升其文化與市場價值。
為體現移印染的染布特色,外包裝提袋採用「立體折扇結構」作為主設計,設計靈感來自於移印染其中一項製作環節。有別於傳統的染布工法,移印染是透過高溫蒸煮的方式將植物色彩與花紋轉印於布料上,最為關鍵的步驟便是在花紋拼組完畢後,將布料層層摺疊,並使用可耐高溫的繩子將其捆綁成長條型,而非攤開浸泡以均勻染色。透過此折扇結構,此染布包裝在視覺呈現上不僅更具層次與辨識度,也能讓觀者更直觀地初步認識移印染的製作原理,進一步強化包裝上的工藝特色與品牌識別。
To promote Plant-Impression Dyeing, our team conducted extensive research, discussions, and an on-site visit to TATI-WORKSHOP. Through this process, we decided to focus on improving the brand’s packaging as our primary approach while also developing a compact experience kit for general consumers.
Both the redesigned packaging and the new experience kit integrate modern design elements while preserving the unique characteristics of Plant-Impression Dyeing. By doing so, we aim to enhance its cultural significance and market value.
To embody the distinctive features of Plant-Impression Dyeing, we adopted a three-dimensional folding fan structure as the core design of our packaging tote bag. This design was inspired by a crucial step in the dyeing process. Unlike traditional dyeing techniques, which rely on immersion for even coloration, Plant-Impression Dyeing involves high-temperature steaming to transfer plant colors and patterns onto fabric. A key step in this process is layering the fabric after arranging the patterns, then tightly binding it into a long cylindrical shape with heat-resistant cords.
By incorporating this folding fan structure, our packaging not only enhances visual depth and recognition but also provides an intuitive representation of the Plant-Impression Dyeing method. This approach strengthens the craftsmanship embedded in the packaging design while reinforcing the brand’s identity, making the art of Plant-Impression Dyeing more accessible and visually compelling.
