This rocking chair was inspired by my grandmother, who loved its gentle motion but struggled with traditional designs that made sitting and standing difficult, increasing her risk of falling. To improve accessibility and safety, it features a side-entry design with movable armrests for stable support and an adjustable angle mechanism for seamless transitions between rocking, reclining, and upright positions.
Sustainability was key in material selection, using reclaimed hinoki and Taiwan incense cedar to reduce environmental impact while preserving wood’s warmth and aroma. Steam-bent craftsmanship minimizes waste and ensures durability, with concealed metal reinforcements enhancing stability.
A modular design allows cushions, headrests, and armrests to be replaced, extending the chair’s lifespan while reducing waste. Free from excessive adhesives and chemicals, it remains environmentally and health-conscious. This chair is more than furniture—it’s a safe, adaptable, and comforting space for seniors, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern functionality.
