In recent years, earthquakes have occurred frequently, and scholars have pointed out that the world has entered a period of increased seismic activity, indicating that we must pay more attention to the disasters that earthquakes may cause.
Earthquakes not only lead to building collapses or road deformations, but they can also trigger more severe disasters such as volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and landslides.
At tectonic plate boundaries, earthquakes of various sizes frequently occur, causing many seismic disasters. To remind people of the historical destruction caused by earthquakes, we are creating a model of earthquake disasters and incorporating animals into the model. This will help people understand how devastating the impact of earthquakes can be.
This project emphasizes the fear and seriousness that earthquakes bring. We will integrate the symbolic characteristics of three animals into the model: the shark’s biting force symbolizes destruction, the turtle’s hard shell is reminiscent of mountains, and the term "earth cow turning over," a Taiwanese folk saying, symbolizes the violent shaking that occurs during an earthquake. Through these multi-layered symbols, we hope that viewers can not only experience the destructive power of earthquakes through the model, but also increase their understanding of and awareness about earthquake disasters and how to prevent them.
