台灣擁有五種原生淡水龜：斑龜、食蛇龜、柴棺龜、金龜及中華鱉，其中，食蛇龜與柴棺龜屬於一級保育類，除了棲息地受到嚴重破壞，更因盜獵頻傳、非法走私、寵物市場炒作等問題，在短短幾年內，食蛇龜與柴棺龜的數量驟減。斑龜是一種常見的台灣淡水龜，近年來受到強勢外來種——巴西龜的影響，數量已經逐步減少；巴西龜擁有高度的生存能力及繁殖能力，也作為寵物龜在爬蟲市場佔有一席之地，然而在外來種被不斷放生之際，同樣作為水龜的斑龜被擠壓到了生存環境……事實上，淡水龜在台灣並不屬於一個熱門的探討議題，因此，現階段國內對於淡水龜的研究尚不深刻，我期待透過我的作品，除了使大家更加注重生態保育，對台灣原生龜種有更多的認識外，也期望藉此創造永續循環價值，讓傳承不再只是故事，而是深耕未來。
我的作品首先繪製五隻龜種之圖像，接著繪製常見淡水龜之生存環境，包括淺山丘陵、平原、沼澤、溪流及池塘等，輔以高明度之對比色系，呈現台灣豐富的特殊地貌；除此之外，我查詢台灣國內相關論文文獻，以資訊圖表方式表達原生龜的物種資訊。

Turtle Isle -The Legacy Tale of Taiwan’s Freshwater Turtles-

Taiwan has five native freshwater turtles, including the critically endangered big-headed turtle and yellow-margined box turtle. Their populations have declined due to habitat destruction, poaching, and the pet trade. The Chinese stripe-necked turtle is also threatened by the invasive red-eared slider, which competes for resources.
Freshwater turtles are rarely studied in Taiwan, and awareness is low. Through my work, I aim to promote conservation and deepen public understanding. My project features illustrations of the five native turtles and their habitats—hills, plains, marshes, streams, and ponds—using vibrant colors. I also incorporate research data into infographics to present key species information clearly.
