隨著科技進步與新材料興起,竹藝產業面臨挑戰,但AI技術的引入為設計過程帶來更多可能性,提升了創作效率和設計品質。我們研究探討臺灣竹藝產業的發展與現狀、分析了AI工具(ChatGPT、Stable Diffusion)在竹製產品設計中的應用程式並發現ChatGPT在文字處理與概念發想方面表現出色,能優化設計思路;Stable Diffusion則透過AI圖像生成技術,快速產出創新設計方案,為設計者提供豐富的設計靈感,這些AI工具不僅突破了傳統竹藝設計的限制,還提升了竹材在現代市場的應用潛力,並開闢了更多創新的可能性。
我們將產品命名為逐竹,象徵著設計過程中對竹材的探索與創新。名稱中的「逐」字,代表著追尋、探索的過程;而「竹」則突顯了竹材本身的核心特色,不僅保留其自然美感,也象徵竹藝的文化底蘊,以此來製作出一款床邊櫃。這款床邊櫃巧妙結合竹材的自然元素與實用功能。櫃體左側採用抽屜方式作為設計,把手的部分則使用竹材剖面作為呈現,展現出溫潤自然的質感,同時還能收納不常用的物品,提升空間的整潔度,而右側則排列竹節形似山巒,讓竹材表面增添紋理、視覺層次及流動性。

With technological advancements and the emergence of new materials, the bamboo craft industry faces challenges. However, the integration of AI technology into the design process has introduced new possibilities, enhancing both creative efficiency and design quality.
We have explored the development and current state of Taiwan’s bamboo craft industry and analyzed the applications of AI tools, specifically ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion, in bamboo product design. Our research found that ChatGPT excels in text processing and concept development, optimizing design thinking. Meanwhile, Stable Diffusion utilizes AI-generated imagery to rapidly produce innovative design concepts, providing designers with abundant inspiration. These AI tools not only break the limitations of traditional bamboo craftsmanship but also enhance bamboo’s potential in the modern market, opening up even more opportunities for innovation.
We have named our product Zhuzhu, symbolizing the exploration and innovation of bamboo materials in the design process. The character 「逐」 (zhú) represents the pursuit and exploration, while 「竹」 (zhú) highlights the essential characteristics of bamboo, preserving its natural beauty while embodying the cultural essence of bamboo craftsmanship.
Based on this concept, we have created a bedside cabinet that seamlessly integrates the natural elements of bamboo with practical functionality. The left side of the cabinet features a drawer design, with the handle crafted from a cross-section of bamboo, showcasing a warm and organic texture while providing storage for infrequently used items to enhance spatial organization. The right side arranges bamboo nodes in a pattern resembling mountain ridges, adding texture, visual depth, and a sense of fluidity to the bamboo surface.
