In collaboration with Taipei Botanical Garden’s “National Botanical Garden Ark Project,” this horticultural therapy planting kit promotes the conservation of Taiwan’s endangered herbaceous plants.
The kit includes seeds, soil blocks, seedling pots, gardening tools, and a vacuum-sealed plant specimen information pack (featuring a 3D info card concept). The seed sources, specimen production, and academic research are provided by the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute.
Users plant the seeds in the designated seedling pots, following the step-by-step planting guide and using the appropriate tools. During the cultivation process, they experience horticultural therapy benefits across three aspects: physical, emotional, and cognitive.
The vacuum-sealed specimen pack organizes plant characteristics through symbols and diagrams. Users can compare the specimens with their plants during different growth stages through “observation” and “touch,” enhancing sensory stimulation and plant recognition.
The accompanying guide card introduces five endangered plant species, planting steps, and a growth record chart. It helps users track progress while improving hand-eye coordination (physical), a sense of accomplishment (emotional), and observation skills (cognitive).
The illustrated plant set features 11 selected plants suitable for horticultural therapy, categorized into three types: “terrestrial,” “aquatic,” and “climbing.” Each category has a dedicated guidebook covering native habitats, conservation efforts, detailed botanical illustrations, and therapeutic applications. This enhances public understanding of the value of endangered plants and genetic preservation, reinforcing the importance of conservation.
This project aligns with the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute’s mission to integrate endangered plant awareness into daily horticultural therapy while protecting Taiwan’s native flora.
