拍貼機 - TOPATORU 是一件融合互動與警示性的設計作品，以繽紛色彩與童趣娃娃營造安心氛圍，模擬看似安全的日常場域。參與者依循拍貼流程操作，卻在螢幕上看到來自隱藏角度的偷拍影像，進而發現藏於娃娃後的隱形攝影機與警示標語，從熟悉轉為不安，深刻體驗隱私遭侵害的震撼感。

名稱「TOPATORU」結合「偷拍偷錄」與日文「取る（TORU）」，象徵個人隱私在毫無防備下輕易落入他人之手，警示隱私問題的嚴重性。靈感來自數位時代隱私暴露的挑戰，人們時刻處於監控之中，卻對隱形監視習以為常，甚至漠視其影響。

本作品希望透過熟悉場景與隱藏監控的對比，讓參與者切身感受被窺探的不安，反思個人隱私的重要性。同時，也提醒大眾在無意間可能成為被窺視者或侵害他人隱私的幫兇，呼籲社會重視隱私保護，在科技便利與安全之間尋求平衡。

TOPATORU: An Interactive Installation on Privacy Awareness

TOPATORU is an interactive and thought-provoking design installation that blends engagement with cautionary messaging. Set within a seemingly harmless and nostalgic purikura (photo booth) space filled with colorful decorations and plush dolls, the installation recreates an environment of comfort and familiarity, mimicking everyday settings perceived as safe. Participants follow the standard photo booth procedure, yet upon seeing their images on the screen, they realize that instead of their expected selfies, the photos are secretly taken from hidden angles. Driven by curiosity, they explore the space further and discover concealed cameras behind the dolls, along with warning messages, abruptly shifting their sense of security to discomfort and evoking a profound realization of privacy intrusion.

The name "TOPATORU" is derived from the Chinese term "偷拍偷錄" (covert filming and recording) and the Japanese verb "取る (toru)," meaning "to take." This dual-layered meaning underscores the vulnerability of personal privacy in an age where data and images can be easily captured without consent. The project is inspired by the growing challenges of privacy in the digital era, where individuals are constantly subjected to surveillance, often without awareness. While technology offers convenience, it simultaneously blurs the boundaries of privacy, leading to normalization and desensitization to ubiquitous monitoring.

By juxtaposing a familiar setting with hidden surveillance, TOPATORU allows participants to experience the unsettling sensation of being watched, prompting reflection on personal privacy. The installation further raises awareness that anyone can unknowingly become either a victim of surveillance or a complicit participant in violating others’ privacy. Ultimately, it calls for a heightened societal consciousness regarding privacy protection and seeks a balance between technological advancement and individual security.
