“On January 22, 2022, our exhibition was unveiled.”
“What happens when digital art and social issues intersect with one another?”
We were curious about this.
In planning this graduation exhibition, we partnered with two social welfare organizations, which are focused on the needs of adults with autism spectrum disorders and elders with dementia, respectively. We worked with a total of 33 students from the two organizations. This partnership lasted for half a year. At the organizations we planned a menagerie of art creation courses for the students, placing emphasis especially on “expression” through art. Meantime, during these courses, we spelunked with them in the long, winding journey of self-exploration.
January 22, 2022, marked the opening ceremony of 《Daydream no.33 exhibition》 Constructed in conjunction with the concept of dreams, the exhibition provided comprehensive augmented reality (AR) experience. Further, we created three sections at the exhibition site which respectively jibed with the images of white clouds, sandy beaches and zoos so as to echo the scene switch in dreams.
We invited all the students we worked with to the ceremony, ready to unveil the exhibition on which all of us spent much toil. The palpable joy on their faces as their paintings were set in motion by AR technology was genuine and touching.
We have created an APP that helps elders with dementia and autism patients to communicate with others through digital art.Not only does this app make art creation fun and easily fathomable by using AR(Augmented Reality); it also offers an online communication platform as well as opportunities for physical art exhibitions.
And we’ve already put all this into effect with [Daydream no.33], and will be seeking to curate more exhibitions around the globe. Through our efforts, we hope the world sees these people in a new light.
